S. W. Cole Welcomes Laboratory Manager to Somersworth office

Somersworth, NH – August 9:  S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. welcomes Murray J. Swindell to the firm’s Somersworth office. With the addition of Murray earlier this summer, S. W. Cole’s Somersworth office gains an employee with diverse experience, based in geotechnical geology and construction materials testing, to service clients in southern Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Murray Swindell was raised in various cities in the Midwest and moved to New England in his teens. He attended Albion College in Albion, Michigan and holds a bachelor’s in geology. Murray’s 25-plus years of experience includes the positions of exploration services supervisor, senior field geologist, geotechnical laboratory manager and construction materials testing technician. Murray also has extensive experience performing field investigations; data assessments; soil gradations; geologic and hydrogeologic sampling; hydrometer testing; compaction tests; geotechnical and environmental mapping; permeability tests; consolidation tests; and concrete, asphaltic pavement and earthwork testing and sampling, both in the field and the laboratory.

Murrray’s responsibilities as Laboratory Manager includes oversight of laboratory soil, asphalt, concrete and masonry testing, reporting and quality control management. Murray also assists with subsurface explorations including soil classifications and test boring logs.

Prior to joining S. W. Cole, Murray was employed by R. W. Gillespie and Associates, Inc., in Saco, Maine for 17 years and Contest Lab, Inc., in South Portland.

S. W. Cole’s team of engineers, geologists and technicians has grown steadily since the firm was established over 30 years ago in Bangor, Maine. S. W. Cole is an employee-owned firm of over 90 scientists, engineers and technicians providing geotechnical engineering, geoenvironmental services, ecological consulting and construction materials testing for projects throughout New England. S. W. Cole was established in 1979 and has six offices across New Hampshire and Maine.
